CHRISTIAN KLAUS

Annette designed a development program for our young leaders that took into account ohe individual needs of our company and those of the participants. The workshops were conducted in a very interactive manner, combining knowledge transfer and open discussions. Due to her many years of operational experience, Annette was able to relate to the participants’ issues and give them valuable input.

MARIA GRUETER

Director of Pre-Opening Kempinski Hotels

I have worked with Annette on several hotel opening projects around the world. Her structured approach to create engaging and effective training programs for all members of the local and expat workfoce made her an irreplacable member of the pre-opening team. Annettes diplomatic and understanding approach helped to navigate and bridge communication gaps in those diverse cultural settings.

Annette Hopfensperger

Founder and Executive Director

Each hotel team embodies what fascinates me most about our industry: a diversity of characters and cultures. During my career I was able to develop an ability to motivate people from all walks of life and to instill a sense of belonging to a multi-cultural team. I first started working as an apprentice in a bank, but after graduating I gave in to my curiosity and wanderlust and found my place in the hospitality industry. I built upon the degree I obtained from the Glion Hospitality School Campus at Leysin, Switzerland and gained operational experience in China, Egypt, the United Kingdom, Vietnam, Germany, Singapore, the Caribbean and Austria, working for international companies such as Hyatt, Sheraton, Six Senses and Mandarin Oriental. A big advocate of lifelong learning, I trained as a certified business coach in 2010 and completed a part-time MBA degree in International Human Resources in 2018. In 2023 I qualified as a Lego Serious Play© facilitator. My focus was always on Human Resources and Talent Development within the hospitality sector, where I gained 20 years of operational experience, including more than 10 years of strategic work on curriculum development for employee qualification. Before starting Knowledge Matters I held corporate positions with Accor, Falkensteiner Hotels & Resorts, Althoff Hotels as well as working on pre-opening projects with Kempinski.
